Exhibit Unveiling: The Men Who Made the Arboretum, CCC Co. 1360’s Legacy at the National Arboretum

From 1934 through 1941, the members of Civilian Conservation Corps Company 1360 transformed a patchwork of abandoned farms into a landscape worthy of hosting the National Arboretum. A new, permanent exhibit documents the experiences and honors the contributions of these local, young Black men to the Arboretum’s history.

One of the most unique horticultural displays at the Arboretum, the Gotelli Conifer Collection offers a special beauty in the winter months. This fascinating collection contains a range of colors, forms, and textures that are sure to leave you in awe of the diversity of conifers.

New Year’s Eve Forest Bathing Walk

As one of FONA’s most popular forest bathing walks of the year, the New Year’s Eve walk offers a chance for participants to slow down and reflect on the past year before stepping into the new one. Forest bathing, or shinrin yoku, is the simple practice of taking in the woods through the senses for health benefits. This year, three walks are being offered at 9 am, noon, and 2:30 pm.
