Internships
Now accepting applications for summer 2025 internship opportunities! Deadline: January 13, 2025.
Program Description
The U.S. National Arboretum is one of the premier arboreta in the country, located just two miles from the U.S. Capitol. Each season, we offer paid internships for qualified individuals seeking on-the-job work experience and training in horticulture, botany, and plant research (genetics, conservation, taxonomy, pathology, production). Selected individuals gain hands-on experience working in the Arboretum’s various plant collections, greenhouses, or research laboratories. In addition, interns complete a project and participate in educational field trips. Internships vary in length from 3 months to 6 months, and are located at the National Arboretum in Washington, DC or at our research facilities in Beltsville, MD.
Application requirements: a cover letter, resume, transcripts (unofficial are accepted), and the names of three references.
