Forest Bathing Walks

Connect with nature while exploring the grounds of the National Arboretum. During this two-hour program, Friends of the National Arboretum’s certified forest bathing guides invite you to reflect on the world around you and guide you through focused meditations.

A Tribute to Sachiko Furlan

This exhibit of ikebana flower arrangements honors the life and art of Sachiko Furlan. She was a long-time volunteer at both the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum and the Embassy of Japan where she created magnificent ikebana arrangements for special occasions. FONA’s Fall Festival & Bulb Sale

Celebrate fall at the Arboretum! Stock up on both favorite and unusual bulbs, shop from a small number of local vendors, and try out free nature-based activities for the whole family. Rodney Stotts, a local raptor expert, will also bring his birds of prey for live demonstrations.

Garlic Planting Party

Celebrate the end of the growing season with us in the Washington Youth Garden. We’ll plant garlic, harvest vegetables, play games, and more! Wearing Halloween costumes is highly encouraged. Registration is preferred but not required — let us know you’re coming and receive important event updates.

FONA’s Fall 5K

November 12th 2023 -

Enjoy the Arboretum’s fall colors while running or walking the course. Strollers and dogs are allowed, but dogs must stay on a six-foot non-retractable leash.
