US National Arboretum

Welcome to the National Arboretum’s Botanical Explorer, or A•B•E.* With links to our plant records and image databases, A•B•E is a powerful new search and mapping tool for researchers and homeowners alike. Detailed information about the Arboretum’s accessioned plants and herbarium specimens is available by clicking on the map or using the browser. We are working hard on linking images to our accessions and appreciate your patience as we build that database.

A•B•E can also help you plan a visit. Use it to look around the gardens and grounds and then map what you want to see!

*The acronym also recalls the founder of the United States Department of Agriculture, President Abraham Lincoln. The Arboretum is part of the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service.

Have you tried our mobile app?

mobile appThe U.S. National Arboretum mobile app will help guests navigate the vast grounds of the Arboretum via a digital map. A search feature will allow visitors to explore the collections and other features, learn about available visitor services, and locate a memorial bench or tree with greater ease. Tours, exhibits, events and gardens are programmed into the app to let visitors know in “real time” what they can see during their visit.

Supported by both the iOS and Android platforms, the app will complement the existing signage and other ways of navigating the Arboretum’s many gardens and other features.
