Hours & Admission

The Arboretum grounds are open every day of the year except December 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.

The Visitor Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.daily except for federal holidays November through February.

The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.daily except for federal holidays November through February, so plan to visit this collection first if you visit late in the day.

The Arbor House Gift Shop is open daily Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Visitor maps and restrooms are available at Arbor House, located next to the R Street Gate.

The Arboretum is located in northeast Washington, DC, 2.2 miles from the Capitol. It is bordered on the west by Bladensburg Road, on the north by New York Avenue, and on the south by M Street. Visitor entrances are located on New York Avenue and on R Street.
