A popular book just got better! The American Boxwood Society has just published the 3rd edition of Boxwood Handbook: A Practical Guide to Knowing and Growing Boxwood by Lynn R. Batdorf. Mr. Batdorf is the Curator of the National Boxwood Collection at the U.S. National Arboretum. During his nearly thirty years at the Arboretum, Mr. Batdorf has written 3 books and over 50 articles relating to boxwood. He is an Honorary Life Member of both the American Boxwood Society and the European Boxwood and Topiary Society.
The new third edition contains 123 pages of detailed information about the growing, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and mulching of these hardy evergreen standards in the landscape industry. Information on the diseases and insect pests of boxwood is also included in this handy volume. This book is richly illustrated with 91 color photographs featuring all aspects of these plants. People interested in this book can obtain copies at the Arbor House Gift Shop on the grounds of the U.S. National Arboretum or from The American Boxwood Society (www.boxwoodsociety.org).
The U.S. National Arboretum has the most comprehensive collection of living boxwood species and cultivated form in North America. Here, visitors can see the many shapes, sizes, and nature of these shrubs and small trees.
